ELMHURST, Ill. - The Carthage College Firebirds men's cross country team kicked off their 2022 season in impressive fashion, securing a second-place team finish out of nine total teams at the Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational in Elmhurst, Illinois.

"We had a really nice season opener today and I was pleased with our performance from top to bottom," said Carthage head men's cross country coach
Josh Henry. "We came in with a pack running focus and the majority of our packs ran really strong together. This is key for early season races as it'll make us a stronger team as the season progresses. We also compared very positively to our results from this meet last year. I was also very impressed with the freshmen crew today. They're proving to be a very coachable group who are motivated to make an impact.

- The Firebirds will compete at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the St. Olaf Cross Country Trails in Northfield, Minnesota. The invitational will begin at 11 a.m.
