DECORAH, Iowa. - The Carthage Firebirds women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa on Saturday evening. The loss now brings the historical head-to-head between the two teams to 1-1, as the Firebirds defeated Luther at Art Keller Field in 2021.



 

• Final Score: Luther 2, Carthage 0. 
• Location: Decorah, Iowa. 
• Records: Carthage 0-2-4, Luther 3-3-0.

 

• The Norse opened and closed the game in impressive fashion, netting goals in the third and 86th minutes. 
• Luther outshot Carthage 12-0 in the first half of play, but was only able to net one goal in the first 45 minutes of action. 
• The Firebirds recorded three shots in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. 
• Luther took 11 more corner kicks than Carthage in the contest. 

 

• Lisa Traxel, Jess Beymer, and Leah Martin each took a shot in the game. 
• First-year goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth netted seven saves against the Norse. Stallworth has now registered 36 saves over the Firebirds' first six games of the year. 

 

• Women's soccer returns to Art Keller Field to take on the UW-Whitewater Warhawks on Wednesday, September 21 starting at 7 p.m.
• Following the Whitewater game, Carthage begins its conference slate with home matchups against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, September 24 at 5 p.m. and against Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, October 1 at 3 p.m.
