CHICAGO, Ill. - The Carthage College women's soccer team fell to Illinois Institute of Technology 2-1 Thursday night at Stuart Field in Chicago, Ill. 


 

• Final Score: Illinois Institute of Technology 2, Carthage College 1.

• Records: Carthage 0-1-0 overall; Illinois Institute of Technology 1-0-0 overall.

 

• IIT got out to an early 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Nicole Fajardo goal just 25 seconds into the contest.
• Carthage evened the score at one apiece in the 31st minute off of an unassisted goal by junior midfielder Katie Talens.
• The Scarlet Hawks took a 2-1 lead into halftime after Jayla Anaya scored with 32 seconds remaining in the first half via an assist from Rachel Brettin.

 

• Katie Talens scored the first goal of her collegiate career, hitting a right-footed strike from 15 yards out in the first half.
• In her first collegiate regular season game, first-year goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth recorded seven saves.

 

• The Firebirds face Alma in another road contest on Sunday, September 4 beginning at 1 p.m.
• Carthage's first home game of the season will take place on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m as the Firebirds take on the visiting Greenville Panthers.
