KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage College Director of Athletics
Nate Stewart has announced that
Jay Christiansen will be named the interim head coach of the men's and women's golf teams for the fall seasons.
"I want to thank Jay for his willingness to step up and take this role for our golf teams," said Stewart. "After working with both of our golf programs, I am confident Jay will continue to help our student-athletes reach their highest potential."
Christiansen is in his second season at Carthage after being the head men's golf coach and an assistant coach for the women's team last year. Before Carthage, Christiansen was a high school educator for 34 years, spending 32 at Mukwonago High School. Christiansen spent the last 12 years as the boy's golf varsity co-head coach and 19 seasons as the girl's head golf coach. Christiansen led two teams and four individuals to the WIAA state tournament for the men and four teams to the state tournament, along with coaching four individuals as state qualifiers on the women's side.
A competitive amateur golfer, Christiansen was the membership league chairman at Rainbow Springs Golf Course. He co-directed the youth golf program from 1999 to 2009, working with hundreds of young golfers each summer. Christiansen has been part of the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Board of Directors for the last 12 years and currently serves as the President of the Association.
A national search will commence for a head women's golf coach following the conclusion of the fall season.
