MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — The Carthage college women's golf team sits in 12th of 14 after the first round of Washington University's (St. Louis) Spring Invitational at the Quarry at Crystal Springs Golf Club. The Firebirds combined to shoot 326 at the par 70, 5669 yard course.
Kate Munro set the pace for the Firebirds, shooting even with par at 70 (E) to finish second among all golfers at the event. Lorelei Oomens carded an 80 (+10) , followed by Madi McCoy with 82 (+12) and Alina Brindza with 94 (+24).
Illinois Wesleyan currently sits in first place with a tournament-low 290, and host Washington University is in second place and trails by seven strokes. The Firebirds are just two strokes behind Carleton College in 11th place.
Round two of the Wash-U Spring Invitational will begin tomorrow morning, April 4th.
