KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's volleyball team concluded the 2022 regular season with a 3-0 the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win over Loras on Saturday at Tarble Arena.

Carthage (18-3, 12-0 CCIW) started the game with a 9-6 margin off a Zach Bulthuis kill. Later Matt Slivinski connected on a kill giving the Firebirds a three-point lead. Loras (21-6, 9-3 CCIW) rattled off four-straight points changing the score to 17-15 in favor of the Duhawks. After Loras took a 20-18 advantage, another kill from Bulthuis flipped the score to 22-20. Carthage won the first 25-21.

In the second, two straight kills from Carter Schmidt and Slivinski moved the Firebirds ahead by two. A quick 5-1 run for the visitors changed the score to 19-17. Though Carthage cut the deficit to one with a service error, Loras won the set with a block 25-23.

It was all Carthage in the third controlling a 13-4 score, capped off with an ace from David Markes. A Loras ball handling error widened the gap to 17-8 as Carthage went on to win 25-16.

Kills from Bulthuis and Peyton Wieter put the home team ahead 12-8 early in the fourth. Though Loras got it to two, Carthage used a 12-4 run to go up 24-14. Bulthuis closed it out with a kill for the 25-17 victory.
