SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Carthage College women's golf team tied for third place among the 13 team field at Bethel University's Pilot Invitational this Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds shot 333 today on the par 72, 5972 yard course at Blackthorn Golf Club, finishing alongside division II Lewis University with 652 for the event.
Taylor University took first for the tournament with a total of 641 for their two rounds, followed by Illinois Wesleyan one stroke behind in second place.
Senior Kate Munro finished in second place individually among the 75 golfers in attendance. Munro shot 74 (+2) yesterday in 78 (+6) today to total 152 (+8) for the event. Freshman Lorelei Oomens tied for 19th, carding 166 (+22). Adrienne Rohwedder and Madi McCoy both tied for 21st place, shooting 168 (+24) over their two rounds, while Alina Brindza carded 175 (+31) to round out the Carthage scorecard.
The Firebirds are set to compete next weekend, April 22 & 23 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Spring Invitational at the Janesville Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Wis.
