Women’s Golf Takes First Place in Battle of the Border as They Claim New School Record

KENOSHA, Wis. — Women's Golf took first place this Saturday as the Battle of the Border Tournament concluded that was held at the Bristol Oaks Golf Club in Kenosha. The Firebirds combined for a two-day score of 609, after shooting 298 in the first round and 311 today. Today's score bests another school record today for the lowest two-day score in the program's history, improving on the previous record of 615 set back in 2019. This is the second day in a row that the Firebirds have claimed a new school record, as they broke the single day lowest combined score in the first round that took place yesterday.

Adrienne Rohwedder also shattered a new school record for the second day in a row for her individual play, as she shot a record-low 143 (-1) for two rounds. Rohwedder also claimed the lowest single-round score in the first round as she shot 68 (-4) for the day. Today, she would shoot 75 (+3) and claim the top position on the individual leaderboard amongst all golfers.
Also leading the way for the Firebirds was Madi McCoy, who finished in second place individually after shooting 73 (+1) and 77 (+5) to combine for 150 (+6) for the event. McCoy posted her lowest two-day score of her career today, to go compliment her lowest one-day score of her career which she claimed in the first round, yesterday. 

Also contributing greatly to the Firebird scorecard was Kate Munro, who shot 78 (+6) both days of the tournament to finish with a total of 156 (+12) and land in fourth place. Freshman Lorelei Oomens started her career off strong with a tie for seventh place individually, after shooting 79 (+7) and 81 (+9) for a total of 160 (+16). Alina Brindza rounded out the Firebird scorecard with a 20th-place tie, after shooting 82 (+10) and 85 (+13) for a total of 167 (+23).

Carthage's "B" Scorecard ended in a tie for sixth place with Aurora University, after shooting 677 for the event. Leading the way was Symantha Rohwedder, who combined for a two-day score of 167 after shooting 78 in the first round. Sami Plankey followed behind with her score of 169, and Maggie Bahr chipped in with a total of 172. Natalie Hoege and Katie Wachowiak also chipped in by both finishing with scores of 174.

The Firebirds are back in action Next Saturday, September 11th, as they travel to Waverly, Iowa to compete in the Wartburg Fall Invitational.
