KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage women's lacrosse team fell in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action to Illinois Wesleyan 17-8 on Wednesday at Art Keller Field.
Illinois Wesleyan (8-2, 2-1 CCIW) struck first with a goal at the 28:37 mark of the first half before a goal from
Jessie Gibson put the game back even. The Titans responded with six goals regaining the lead 7-1. Carthage (3-5, 0-2 CCIW) responded with two goals from
Rachel Harris and
Maddie Berni making it 7-3 with 5:40 left in the first half however the Titans took a 10-4 advantage into the intermission break.
In the second half, Illinois Wesleyan added seven goals before the Firebirds added two goals from Berni making it 16-6. Two more goals for Carthage shrank the lead to nine but the Titans won the game 17-8.
The Firebirds are back in action traveling to face UChicago on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
