Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carthage Remains Undefeated with 3-1 Win Over Lake Forest

KENOSHA, Wis. — Playing in their third official match of the spring season, the Carthage men's soccer team took down Lake Forest College 3-1 on Thursday night at Art Keller Field.

"We have spoken about it before but we need to manage different types of games, and today was one of those new games," said head coach Steve Domin. "Lake Forest historically is winning their league and angling towards nationals year-over-year, but our reach and pace can create fits for the opposition, even if they sit-in. Their goalkeeper was the man of the match."

Just under eight minutes in, the Foresters (3-1) took an early lead, before freshman Mickey Reilly evened the board with his fifth goal in three games for Carthage (3-0) this spring. Early in the second half, Colin Iverson connected on a ball into the box by Danny Eloyza with a header to put the Firebirds out in front. Moments later, a penalty in the box drawn by Mickey Reilly lead to a penalty kick from Eloyza, who gave Carthage their 3-1 lead they would hold on to win.

"I think Quin Roth, Jhovanny Guardarrama, and Nicholas Renfro had breakout games and their efforts don't stand out in the stat line," said Domin. "Mickey, Mason, and Aidan are a handful even when they are not having their best days. All evidenced in their ability to take defenses out of shape and are relentlessly dangerous."

The Firebirds will host the Milwaukee School of Engineering next for a scrimmage on Saturday, May 1st at 7 p.m.
