Carroll Tops Carthage at Home 5-1

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage bats collected 11 hits but were unable to transition them into more runs, as the Firebirds fell 5-1 against Carroll on Wednesday afternoon at Augie Schmidt Field.

The visitors would strike first in the top of the second inning, before taking a 3-0 lead in the fifth. After the Pioneers (13-10, 7-8 CCIW) went up 5-0 in the final frame, Carthage (11-9, 6-7 CCIW) was able to manufacture a run after Jake Cinelli sliced a ball to right field to score Ben Levicki.

The Firebirds wrap up a nine-game homestand next, as they host North Central for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 17 beginning at noon.
