RIVER FALLS, Wis. — In the second game this weekend, the Carthage women's lacrosse team fell to Wisconsin-River Falls 14-9 on Sunday.
Wisconsin-River Falls (3-1) got on the board first with a pair of goals until two goals from Margaux Giacotto and
Hanna Holloway brought the game back to even. After a Falcons goal, Carthage (3-3) scored two as Holloway tallied her second goal of the game and
Jessie Gibson put in one, changing the score to 4-3. The home team retaliated with two goals as Wisconsin-River Falls regained the lead 5-4. Just before halftime, Giacotto found the back of the net on a free position goal to tie the game.
In the second half, the home team regained possession with two goals taking a two-point advantage early. Rachel Harris got in the goal column at the 23:01 mark shrinking the deficit to one. Though the Firebirds added three goals, the Falcons won the game 14-9.
Next up, Carthage begins conference play traveling to Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday, April 3 starting at 1 p.m.
