KENOSHA, Wis. — In the final home conference match of the regular season, the No. 2 Carthage College men's volleyball team collected another straight-set victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Tarble Arena.
Carthage (16-0, 10-0 CCIW) began the first with a 10-4 margin over Illinois Wesleyan (2-13, 1-9 CCIW). The Firebirds ended the set with a 15-5 run to take the first 25-9.
In the second, the home team started with an 8-2 lead with a kill from
Blake Arnold. The Titans battled back narrowing the deficit to seven until an attack error for the visitors made it 16-7. Another 9-2 gave Carthage a two-set lead 25-9.
The Firebirds went up 14-8 with a Titans service error. A quick 8-3 run for the Firebirds moved the score to 22-11 as Carthage won the match 25-14. With the victory, the men's volleyball team wins the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) 2021 Men's Volleyball Championship title.
Next up, the Firebirds are on the road taking on Millikin on Thursday, April 1 at 7 p.m.
