Women’s Lacrosse Drop Non-Conference Contest

KENOSHA, Wis. — Continuing non-conference play, the Carthage College women's lacrosse team fell to Aurora 16-7 on Tuesday evening at Art Keller Field. 

Aurora (3-2) got on the board with two goals early. Maddie Berni put in a goal to make it 2-1 with 22:52 on the clock. The Spartans retaliated with two goals of their own extending the lead to 4-1. Maddie Berni put in her second goal of the game as Carthage (2-2) cut the deficit to two. After the visitors put in two, Hanna Holloway registered her first goal of the game shrinking the deficit to 6-3. Two more goals for Aurora saw the visitors go up 8-3 with 3:36 remaining. Both teams traded goals in the final minutes of the half as the Firebirds headed into the intermission break trailing 9-4. 

In the second half, Aurora added seven until Carthage put in three straight goals however, the Spartans won the game 16-7. 

Next up, the Firebirds are on the road facing Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, March 27 at 3 p.m.
