Men's Swim and Dive Finish CCIW Cup

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Cup Series on Saturday at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.

The CCIW Cup was hosted on Saturday at Carthage (Carthage and Augustana) and at Wheaton (Wheaton, Illinois Wesleyan, and North Central). On Friday Millikin and Carroll competed at Carthage. Results from each event have been merged to compile a leaderboard for the event.

The Firebirds had posted 15 top five best times during the event as the relay team of Nick Nevins, Mitchel Steinke, Adam Moskus, and Mitchell Mages won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:21.96 which set a new Koenitzer Aquatic Center pool record. In individual events, Carthage posted the top three best times in the 200-yard individual medley as Garrett Shuldes, Matt Janovsky and Ethan Cohen held the top three spots respectively. In the 50-yard freestyle, Steinke recorded the second-best time and Moskus posted the third while Mages and Christian Snyder took the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly respectively.

Ethan Hare and Michael Bartczyszyn went one and three in the 200-yard freestyle while Mages registered a time of 56.75 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hare tallied a time of 1:53.80 in the 200-yard backstroke while Moskus' winning 46.36 was in the 100-yard freestyle.

Manny Contreras recorded the third-best in the one-meter and second-best in the three-meter diving events respectively while Daniel Staicu was scored a third-best 239.05 in the three-meter event.

Six Firebird seniors were recognized during the meet: Ethan Hare, Mitchell Mages, Nick Nevins, Alec Makenas, Mitchel Steinke and David Vowels.
