Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Offense Surges in 28-5 Win over Concordia Chicago

KENOSHA, Wis. — After scoring 10 points in the first quarter, the Carthage College men's lacrosse team continued to find the back of the net with a 28-5 victory over Concordia University Chicago on Saturday at Art Keller Field.

Less than a minute into the game, Noah Lindner scored his first of five goals on the day before following it up with a second moments later. While Concordia Chicago (0-1) responded to make it 2-1 with 11:26 left in the quarter, Carthage (2-0) would go on to score eight unanswered and set the score at 10-1 after the first period.

The visitors netted a goal to begin the second quarter, with the Firebirds scoring five straight to extend their lead to 15-2 with 6:44 left in the half. Lindner found Robert Dakan with 1:50 left before halftime for a goal to set the score at 17-3 at the midway break.

Carthage would outscore Concordia Chicago by nine in the second half, highlighted by five goals from freshmen.

The Firebirds are scheduled to head south to take on Centre College in Kentucky on Saturday, March 6 at noon.

Head Coach David Neff

"First, I want to thank Concordia Chicago for playing hard until the end. They haven't had a chance to get out on a field with the snow we have been getting, and they will get better each week. I was proud of our guys, everyone got good minutes today and we threw everything at this one as the home opener. We have one of the best teams in the region in Centre next Saturday, and a well coached Hanover program on Sunday so I'm hoping some of the guys hurt today are back, because it's going to be a lot of lacrosse in March and we need everyone. Coach Torrence really had the first group of offense ready and he put a lot into preparing them these two off weeks, and it showed. A special shout out goes to our face-off guys today as well, the big number on the board was a result of their winning the ball back too."
