Carthage Drops 56-47 Contest at Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis. — In their second of a three-game road trip, the Carthage College women's basketball team fell at Carroll 56-47 on Tuesday night in the Van Male Field House.

While the home team would step out in front early, Carthage (0-7, 0-7 CCIW) took an 8-7 lead on a three pointer from Margueret Spear. As the quarter came to an end, Nansy Velev beat the buzzer with a score down low to make it 12-all. However, Carroll (5-2, 5-2 CCIW) would outscore Carthage in the second period to take a 37-22 lead into halftime.

While Ayanna Ester would sink a deep ball near the end of the third period to cut the Carroll lead to six, the home team held off the Carthage comeback attempt through the remainder of the night.

Carthage will be back on the court on Thursday night, traveling to Naperville, Ill to take on North central at 7 p.m.
