STEVENS POINT, Wis.  — The Carthage College men's wrestling team competed in the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointer Open on Saturday. 

Carthage came away with 8.5 team points in the tournament as Loren Semler won by decision at 125 pounds. Sebastian Rosales scored 1.5 team points as he won by fall over his opponent at 133 pounds. Rosales picked up his second win of the day as he won by decision. At 149 pounds, River Rogers collected a win by decision while Colin Ruiz won by fall at 157 pounds. Freshman Kobe Gilbert won by fall at 165 pounds while Devin Rogers won at 174 pounds. Kelly Marten picked up the Firebirds final point of the day at 285 pounds, winning by fall. 

Carthage returns home to face Concordia (Wis.) on Wednesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m.

"We had some wrestlers who reached some goals and earned some really tough wins today. Everyone has been consistently learning and improving every practice and it showed at this tournament! What I'm most impressed with is the amount of heart every wrestler on this team showed today and that's what is going to propel them to championships down the road. I'm extremely excited for the future of Carthage Wrestling!"
