Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Firebirds Fall at Home

KENOSHA, Wis. — On a warm October day, the Carthage College women's soccer team fell to Augustana (Ill.) in the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) competition on Saturday evening at Art Keller Field. 

After a scoreless tie heading into the intermission break, the Vikings (6-5, 3-2 CCIW) took the lead as a shot hit the crossbar. The rebound was then headed into the goal at the 54th-minute mark. Though the Firebirds (3-8, 1-2 CCIW) outshot the visitors in the second half, Augustana (Ill.) won the match 1-0. 

Next up, Carthage hits the road facing Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m.

  • Morgan Verbeten led the Firebirds in shots on goal with two as Amelia Price and Erin Otto added two shots.
