Offense Comes Out Hot as Firebirds Down Vikings 5-1

KENOSHA, Wis. — Taking a lead less than a minute into play that they would hold all night, the Carthage men's soccer team picked up a 5-1 victory over Augustana on Saturday at Art Keller Field.

Merely 45 seconds into the match, Mickey Reilly scored a quick goal off an assist from Nick Renfro to put the Firebirds (7-4-2, 1-2-1 CCIW) on the board. Five minutes later, Joe Balas assisted an Aidan Crowder goal to put Carthage on top 2-0 before Reilly assisted a score from Mason McCaw 10 minutes after. Carthage would enter the locker rooms up 3-0 at the half on the Vikings (4-6, 0-4 CCIW).

Early in the second period, Reilly would add another goal to put the Firebirds up 4-0 off an assist from Cesar Recendez, before Recendez scored one of his own moments later. The Firebirds would allow one goal from the visitors, but go on to pick up their seventh win of the season.

Carthage hosts Wheaton next Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in their next contest.
