Cale Brown Named Assistant Track and Field Coach

10/28/2021 10:03:00 AM

KENOSHA, Wis.  — The Carthage men's and women's track and field teams announced the elevation of Cale Brown to assistant track and field coach on Wednesday. Brown will work with the hurdles, jumps, and sprint events for the Firebird track and field programs.

"I would not be in this position if it weren't for all of the incredible coaches I've worked with along the way," said Brown. "Coach Raney and Missiaen, Coach Josh Henry and Stephanie Domin, and Coach Vaughn who did an incredible job of putting this program in a position to be successful."

Brown previously spent two seasons with the Carthage track and field programs as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the jumpers. During that time he worked with Tyrani White, who qualified for the NCAA Championship meet in the long jump, and Alex Jarvis, who recorded the fifth-best mark in the triple jump in Carthage history. Brown previously coached at Muskeego High School and coaches his brother in his spare time, Carthage alumnus Buzzy Brown, who has qualified for multiple USA Indoor Track and Field National Championship meets and holds the Carthage record for the indoor long jump.

"We are very excited to add Cale to our coaching staff," said women's cross country and track and field head coach Stephanie Domin. "He has worked with both our teams the last two years as our graduate assistant and has developed a great rapport with the student athletes. For me personally, it is exciting to see Cale as a Carthage student-athlete transition into his coaching role. Cale has always been passionate about track and field, working with student-athletes, and is a proud Carthage alum. Cale is in his element and I am looking forward to much success in his involvement with our teams."

A graduate of Carthage College in 2014, Brown was a member of the track and field team and won two indoor conference championships in the triple jump while owning the third-best mark in the event at Carthage. He also qualified for the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team.

"As an alumni, I still remember the power of my Carthage experience, particularly my time as a student-athlete," said Brown. "The teammates I had are still my friends today, and my family is woven into the Carthage fabric. I'm just excited to be a part of it all, and provide these student-athletes with an even better experience than my own."

Brown joins the track and field coaching staff to take the place of Vaughn Tackmann, who was recently hired as the head women's track and field coach at Hamline University.

The Carthage track and field teams begin their regular season on December 4, when they host the Carthage College Forever Red Alumni Classic to begin their indoor season.
