NORMAL, Ill. — After starting the day in third place, women's golf has jumped to a first place tie with host Illinois Wesleyan University after posting a new Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships lowest one-round score with today's 293 (+5). Today's score is three strokes lower than the previous CCIW record, which was set yesterday in round one by Wesleyan. The Firebirds also now hold a new school record for lowest 18-hole score, which was previously set less than a month ago at the Wartburg Fall Invitational. Both Wesleyan and Carthage have carded 609 (+33) in the first two rounds of the tournament, with the final round scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Both Adrienne Rohwedder and Madi McCoy led the way for the Firebirds today, posting mutual scores of 71 (-1) in round no. 2. Rohwedder now sits in first place overall with 146 (+2), while McCoy holds a third-place tie with 150 (+6). Senior Kate Munro followed closely behind, shooting even with par today while landing in a fifth-place tie and 153 (+9). Alina Brindza and Symantha Rohwedder have carded 163 (+19) and 164 (+20) respectively for their first 36-holes. Lorelei Oomens rounded out Carthage's six-player scorecard by posting 166 (+22).

The Firebirds tee off for the third and final round of the CCIW Women's Golf Championships tomorrow morning, where they look to gain one stroke over Wesleyan to finish in first.
