Red Men Suffer First Loss of Season at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In their first game of their spring break trip, the Carthage men's lacrosse team fell to Birmingham-Southern 15-6 Sunday afternoon at General Charles C. Krulak Stadium.

The Panthers (4-4) were first to score before Max Schwartz got the Red Men (4-1) on the board just over five minutes into the match. Moments later, Brad Dodds would give Carthage a 2-1 lead they would eventually hold by the end of the quarter.

Early in the second period, Joe Poremba would grab a ground ball off of a Panthers turnover before Michael Stell found Noah Lindner for the score to make it 3-1. While the home team would counter to make it 3-2, Schwartz scored his second of the match with just over seven minutes left in the half. The Red Men would sit out in front by one, 4-3, following one more Birmingham-Southern goal before halftime.

After a Kyle Guthrie save, the Red Men would counter with a score by William Clemens minutes into the third period, before Lindner scored again to make it 6-3. However, the home team would score eight unanswered to close out the third quarter before adding four more in the final 15 minutes, setting the scoreboard at 15-6 in favor of the Panthers.
