DECATUR, Ill. — The Carthage College men's basketball team picked up their third straight victory with a 68-63 win over Millikin in the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action Saturday at Griswold P.E. Center.
The Big Blue (4-18, 1-12 CCIW) jumped out to 11-5 lead over the Red Men (14-7, 6-6 CCIW). Carthage put together a 17-5 run to go up 19-16 sparked by a layup from Sean Johnson and a three-pointer from Jordon Kedrowski. The Red Men ended the half with another 12-6 to head into the intermission break up 31-22.
Millikin cut the deficit to three to start the second at 45-42. With 7:33 left in the half, a dunk from Johnson gave Carthage a 52-47 margin. The Big Blue came within one on three separate occasions until a layup from Kienan Baltimore and a three-pointer from Kedrowski put Carthage up 62-56. A late push for Millikin fell short as the Red Men came away victorious 68-63.
Up next, Carthage returns home taking on North Park on Wednesday, February 12 at 7 p.m.
"We are playing well! Three conference wins in a row is nice. Getting better late in the season which is the mark of a good team. Not all wins are pretty, and Millikin played very hard on their senior night. Looking forward to getting home on Wednesday!"
