Lady Reds Power Through Belles for Third-Straight Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's lacrosse team picked up a 21-10 victory over Greenville Saturday at Art Keller Field.

The Lady Reds (3-1) scored seconds into the first half with a goal from Maddie Berni to go up 1-0. Berni tallied her second goal three minutes later to double the lead before the Belles (0-2) tacked on two goals of their own to tie it at two. Goals from Hanna Holloway and Elizabeth Oda put the home team up, however, Saint Mary's responded to tie the game again at four. The Bells later took control of the game with a goal with 18 minutes left in the half to switch the score to 5-4. The Lady Reds retaliated with nine unanswered goals to go up 13-5 into the halftime break.

To begin the second half, Nicole Bowman found the back of the net however, the Belles answered back with two goals shrinking the margin to 14-7. The Lady Reds got a goal back as Rachel Harris got in the score column making it 15-8. At the 19:44 mark, Saint Mary's cut it to 15-8 but four-straight goals from Bowman, Gibson, Harris and Holloway expanded the advantage to 19-8. Although the Belles shrank the advantage to nine, the Lady Reds took the victory 21-10.

Carthage faces Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday, March 6 beginning at 4 p.m.

Head Coach Lauren Hein

"After a nice team win on Tuesday, this was an even greater team win. We came into today's game focused and ready to play for each other, and it really showed. This is great momentum going into our spring break week. Just need to remain focused, driven, and ready to continue getting better!"
