RACINE, Wis. — Playing at the Life Sport Athletic Club up north, the Carthage College men's tennis team fell to Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1 in the morning, before taking down Lake Forest 7-2 in the evening on Saturday.

In match one of the day, Carthage (6-4) surrendered the three doubles courts against Wisconsin-Eau Claire (10-0), before the visitors would take the first four courts to finish in singles. At court six, John Nykyforuk got the Red Men on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 victory before UW-Eau Claire closed it out at court five.

Against Lake Forest (4-4), Yanozie Amadike and Matt Krzewinski opened up with an 8-1 win at doubles court two, before Hayden Friese and Nykyforuk won at court three 8-4. While Lake Forest would take court one, Amadike put the Red Men up 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in singles at court two.

At court five, Nykyforuk took care of his opponent with a 6-0, 6-1 victory, before Freise clinched the team win for Carthage at court six. At courts three and four, Tripp Schulte and Andre Antreassian picked up wins before the visitors closed out the match with a close win at court one, setting the final score at 7-2.

Carthge will head on their spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. next, beginning with Occidental College on Monday, March 9 at 9 a.m.
