KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's basketball team dropped a close contest to No. 10 Elmhurst 88-84 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin competition on Wednesday inside Tarble Arena.
The Red Men (10-5, 2-4 CCIW) jumped out to a fast 18-8 lead over the Bluejays (14-1, 5-1 CCIW). Elmhurst cut the deficit to three before Kienan Baltimore pushed the advantage back to five with a layup to make the score 25-20. At the 6:05 mark, a three pointer from Jacob Polglase made it 32-28 however, a 15-5 run for Elmhurst quickly switched the score to 43-37 before the Bluejays went into the locker rooms up 45-42.
Elmhurst stretched their lead to 10 with 8:35 remaining in regulation until a 15-5 run for Carthage tied the game at 79. The Red Men kept close with the Bluejays not allowing the margin to grow more than five over the next two minutes. Jordon Kedrowski sank a three pointer to shrink the lead to two at 86-84 with 1:02 left but Elmhurst sank two free throws to seal the victory 88-84 in the closing seconds.
Carthage stays at home facing Millikin on January 18 with a doubleheader with the Carthage women's basketball squad; men tip at 7 p.m.
"Frustrating loss at Tarble Arena. I thought we were very well prepared with only one day of prep. We played well enough to win tonight, but Elmhurst made the key plays down the stretch. Give all the credit to them."

- Brad Perry led the way for Carthage on the day as he collected his third consecutive double-double finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
- Chrishawn Cook also recorded a double-double on the day registering 15 points and a career-best 12 assists.
- Three other Red Men tallied double-digit points: Kienan Baltimore (14), Fillip Bulatovic (12) and Jordon Kedrowski (11).
