Lady Reds Tie Pioneers in First CCIW Action of the Season

WAUKESHA, Wis.  -- The Carthage College women's soccer team battled to a tie with Carroll (Wis.) in the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match of the season Saturday afternoon Schneider Stadium. 

The Lady Reds (3-3-2) peppered the Pioneers (5-2-2) goalkeeper throughout the first half but were unable to find the back of the net. Carthage continued to apply pressure in the second half and had two shots within the final minutes of regulation but could not convert. In overtime, the Lady Reds had six shots but drew a 0-0 tie. 

Carthage travels to face Wisconsin-La Crosse in a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 2 at 4 p.m. 

Quick Facts

  • The Lady Reds registered 20 shots with nine shots on goal. 
  • Morgan Verbeten and Courtney Lee each registered three shots on goal. 
  • Sara Lieffrig played all 110 minutes in goal making five saves.
