KENOSHA, WIS.—The 2019 regular season finale came with plenty of angst for the Carthage College men's lacrosse team, who faced North Central College (Ill.) at Art Keller Field on Sunday afternoon. The Red Men's deepest hole of the game occurred with 12:24 left in regulation when they were down 11-7, which didn't faze them as
Colin Poitras engineered Carthage's 5-1 run with three goals that included his game-tying tally with 0:4 left to get his team even with North Central 12-12.
Tanner Jones put the exclamation point on the contest with his 10
th goal of the season at the 2:30 mark of overtime, which propelled the Red Men to a 13-12 OT victory.

The Red Men have locked the #3 seed and will pay #2 seed Elmhurst College a visit in the 2019 CCIW Men's Lacrosse Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, May 1 at Langhorst Field in Elmhurst, Illinois for a 7:00 p.m. start time. #1 seed Illinois Wesleyan University will host #4 seed Augustana College in the other semifinal game on Wednesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m.

"The special thing about the whole game was that North Central really played their tails off and probably played the better game for 60 minutes," said Red Men head lacrosse coach
David Neff. "It was one of those things you can't script as it was a special day for our seniors, and a special way to win,"

Colin Poitras continued to wreak havoc on North Central with four goals and one assist for five points, which occurred after he torched them for six goals in last season's 18-10 victory.
Noah Lindner added a hat trick for the Red Men while leading scorer
Andy Szun added a pair of goals to his resume.

Joe Poremba led all non-face-off players with nine ground balls along with a pair of caused turnovers.
Samuel Yokobosky notched three caused turnovers and engineered a Carthage defense that tallied 13 for the game, and forced 26 North Central turnovers. The Red Men mustered a 21-of-26 mark in the clear department.
Griffin Cleary took all of Carthage's face-offs and capitalized on a 17-of-29 ratio in the contest.Â

North Central outshot Carthage 38-36, thanks to Tommy Huizinga's four goals, two assists and six points over 10 shot attempts.

Sam Kotsonas made 13 saves in the complete-game win, while his counterpart Dylan Cost stopped 15 shots for the Cardinals, who end their season 9-5, 2-4 CCIW.
