KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's lacrosse team opened their home schedule with a Saturday-afternoon bout against Illinois Wesleyan University at Art Keller Field. The Lady Reds found themselves on the wrong end of a 16-5 decision against the Titans, but touched the record book for the third-straight game. Junior defender
Emily Lima, who recently broke her own single-season caused turnover record, added six more to her resume on Saturday to tie
Maddie Griffin's (2014-17) career mark of 107 with a season and a half of collegiate eligibility ahead of her. Lima, who also led her teammates with five ground balls, engineered a Lady Reds defense that notched eight caused turnovers compared to the Titans' five.
Nicole Bowman and
Jessie Gibson each tallied a pair of goals for the Lady Reds offense, while
Maddie Berni contributed one. Gibson led Carthage with five draw controls, while teammate
Margaux Giacotto collected four.
Alexa VanOrd contributed a pair of assists for Carthage.
Illinois Wesleyan's Riley Rooney led all players with five goals. The Titans outshot Carthage 34-20. Lady Reds goalie
Amy Sorge made 11 saves in the winning-effort, while Janaye Godfrey also tallied 11 saves for Illinois Wesleyan.
Carthage falls to 4-7, 1-2 CCIW while Illinois Wesleyan ups their record to 11-2, 3-0 CCIW.

The Titans led from start-to-finish, where they took an 8-4 lead into halftime. The Lady Reds mustered just one second-half goal when
Jessie Gibson cut Carthage's deficit to 10-5 with 23:12 left in the second half. The Titans closed the contest with a 6-0 run, but Lima played her role in taming their offense with two caused turnovers throughout the run. He career-tying caused turnover occurred with 4:25 left in the second half.
The Lady Reds will square-off against Carroll University (Wis.) on Wednesday, April 17 in Waukesha, Wisconsin at 7:00 p.m.
