HUNTINGDON, ALA.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team squared-off against Huntingdon College in the midst of the their spring break schedule in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday. History was experienced for the Red Men as
Andy Szun became the school's all-time leading scorer with his nine-point performance in a 14-9 victory over the Hawks.

Szun, who needed six points to tie
Danny Morse's school-record 259 points, now has 262 to his name after Thursday. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native tied the record with a goal at the 0:41 mark of the second quarter, and broke it on an assist with 11:46 left in the third quarter to give Carthage a 9-6 lead.

Szun's nine points and 11 shots led all Red Men, while
Noah Lindner and
Colin Poitras each tallied four points.
Joe Poremba continued to establish himself as the top defender in NCAA Division III with five caused turnovers, which engineered a Red Men unit that tallied 13 for the game.
Samuel Yokobosky was on Poremba's heels with four caused turnovers.

The Red Men outshot Huntingdon 42-33 and were nearly flawless on clears with a 21-of-22 figure. Goalie
Kyle Guthrie notched 13 saves in his third-straight start for the Red Men in a complete-game effort, while his counterpart Matt Murphy evened that total with 13 in the loss for Huntingdon.

The Red Men up their record to 5-1, 0-0 CCIW while Huntingdon falls to 3-4.

Szun wasted no time in pursuit of the record with six first-half points, lifting Carthage to an 8-6 lead at halftime. He came out of the third quarter with a shot before his assist on
Ethan Flight's goal with 11:46 left in the third cemented him the all-time scoring mark and pushed Carthage's lead to 9-6.

The Red Men forced six Huntingdon turnovers the remainder of the frame, holding them to just one goal en route to an 11-7 edge heading into the final 10:00. It was enough cushion for the Red Men in a 14-9 win over the Hawks.

Carthage will return to action on Saturday, March 9 at Birmingham-Southern College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
