KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's volleyball team welcomed NAIA institution Cardinal Stritch University to Tarble Arena for a rare Wednesday-night affair. The Red Men battled back from a 2-1 match deficit, and a 6-0 hole in set five to secure a 3-2 victory over the Wolves.
Both teams registered high percentage nights as Cardinal Stritch came through on top with a .261 hitting percentage compared to the Red Men's .255 mark. Trent Sellers and Felipe Oliveira came up big with 23 kills apiece for the Wolves, where Blake Janz fed them with 58 assists in the five-set affair. Eight different Red Men contributed kills, led by
Bryce Thomas's 14 along with a team-high 15 digs.
Matt Slivinski registered 10 kills for the Red Men while
Conner Lilly posted his third-straight seven-kill game and a team-leading five blocks.
Blake Arnold continued to cement his name into the Red Men lineup with a team-leading three aces along with 10 digs and eight kills.
Parker Connolly and
Andrew Otto, who paced the team with a .643 hitting percentage, each tallied nine kills for the Red Men.
Fourteen Red Men saw action in the five-set thriller against Cardinal Stritch.
Mike Motyka registered 26 assists for the Red Men, while
Jacob Allard wasn't far behind with 23.
The Red Men improve to 15-1 and push their win streak to eight games while Cardinal Stritch falls to 6-11.

Five of
Parker Connolly's nine kills in the match occurred in the first set, but the Red Men's combined nine errors were too much to overcome in a 25-22 loss in the frame.
Blake Arnold propelled the Red Men to a 25-21 victory in set two with three service aces and a pair of kills while Cardinal Stritch combined for 11 errors.
Carthage found themselves in a 2-1 hole after a 25-19 loss in set three before
Bryce Thomas's eight kills in set four propelled Carthage to a 25-17 thrashing of the Wolves. With the match tied 2-2, it was enough ignition for Cardinal Stritch in set five as they jumped to a 6-0 lead. Six Cardinal Stritch errors helped Carthage come back and gain their first lead of the set at 13-12. The Red Men didn't allow another Wolves lead as they capitalized on a 16-14 win in set five.
Carthage will return to MCVL play on Friday, March 15 at Greenville College for a 7:00 p.m. game in Greenville, Illinois.
