Warriors and Green Knights Can't Keep Up With Lady Reds

RACINE, WIS.—The Carthage College women's tennis team returned from a 15-day hiatus from competition on Sunday, where they welcomed Wisconsin Lutheran College and St. Norbert College to the Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine. The Lady Reds fired on all cylinders as they destroyed Wisconsin Lutheran 9-0, and St. Norbert College 7-2.
 
The sweep gives Carthage a 9-5, 6-2 CCIW mark. Wisconsin Lutheran fell to 9-9 while St. Norbert dropped to 11-9.

Carthage took a 3-0 edge after doubles, where Nia Pham/Hannah Haeberle set the tone with an 8-2 blasting of Sandhya Akella/Katarina Volkmann in #2. Angelica Emmanouil/Sam Ramsey followed with an 8-4 win over Amanda Wietrzny/Hannah Gerbing in #1 doubles before the #3 slot resulted in an 8-4 win for Kira Mautone/Faelan O'Shaughnessy over Reebee Ratkowski/Natalee Douangvilay.
 
Ramsey kicked-off singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gerbing in the #2 slot before Emmanouil won by that same score over Wietrzny in #1 singles. Pham took down Ratkowski 6-1, 6-1 in #3 singles, while O'Shaughnessy notched a 6-1, 7-6 win over Douangvilay in the #5 slot. Mautone beat Akella 6-0, 6-7, 12-10 in #4 singles, before Emily Krysinski ended the day with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Volkmann in the #6 slot to finish the sweep.

Carthage was flawless in doubles, which began with Emmanouil/Ramsey's 8-3 win over Claire Hetzel/Lauren Paulson. Haeberle/Pham followed with an 8-5 win over Hannah Swajanen/Hannah Keller in the #2 slot before O'Shaughnessy/Mautone notched an 8-3 decision over Nicole Pfotenhauer/Anja Jacobsen in #3 doubles.
 
Emmanouil began singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Paulson, before St. Norbert picked up a point when Jacobsen beat Haeberle 6-2, 6-1. Sam Ramsey iced the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Swajanen in #2 singles. Pham converted a 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Hetzel in the #3 slot, before #6 singles saw O'Shaughnessy notch a 6-1, 6-2 win over Keller. Mautone ended the day with a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 loss to Pfotenhauser in the fifth slot.
 
The Lady Reds will host Concordia University (Wis.) on Sunday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m.
