KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's lacrosse team squared-off against Aurora University in a Saturday-afternoon road bout. The tale of the tape were the 16 infractions assessed in the contest, which didn't faze the Lady Reds as they cruised to a 9-6 victory over the Spartans.
Nine of those penalties were called on the Lady Reds, where Aurora capitalized on three man-up goals. That didn't matter as Carthage led from start-to-finish, much thanks to
Nicole Bowman's game-high four goals in the contest.
Greigh Hoeft and
Margaux Giacotto each followed with three-point efforts for the Lady Reds. Giacotto led all players with five draw controls.
The story of the afternoon was Carthage's defense, who tallied 18 caused turnovers on the afternoon.
Emily Lima had a lot to do with that as she posted a game-high seven caused turnovers while Giacotto,
Marissa Pellegrini and
Jessie Gibson each notched three for the Lady Reds.
Carthage doubled-up the Spartans with a 40-20 advantage in shots, and tallied a 41-36 edge in ground balls.
Amy Sorge made eight saves in net for the Lady Reds, while her counterpart Reilly Armstrong stopped 21 shots for Aurora.
The Lady Reds improve to 3-2 while Aurora begins their season 0-1.
