GREENCASTLE, IND.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team kicked-off their spring break tour earlier than expected with a re-scheduled contest at DePauw University on Saturday. The Red Men, who trailed for much of the first half and eventually grabbed a 17-12 lead with 9:06 left in the fourth, fended off a late 4-0 DePauw run and squeaked an 18-17 victory.
Andy Szun, who became Carthage's all-time shots attempted king with 481 prior to Saturday, paced the Red Men with 11 shots en route to six goals and two assists for eight points.
Noah Lindner, who tallied a game-high two caused turnovers, also posted an eight-point effort with five goals and three assists.
Colin Poitras was on the dynamic duo's heels with four goals and three assists for seven points.
Joe Poremba commanded the Red Men's ground ball efforts with eight.
Twelve infractions were assessed in the contest, with eight of them being called against Carthage.
Kyle Guthrie tallied 15 saves in his first collegiate start, and victory. Charlie Robinson and Patrick Lawton each tallied 30:00 of action in net for DePauw and collectively made 12 saves. DePauw narrowly outshot Carthage 46-43 in the contest.
The Red Men stay undefeated at 4-0 while DePauw stays winless at 0-3.

Carthage trailed for much of the first half before
Noah Lindner's goal with 0:03 left in the second was the turning point that gave his team a 9-8 lead heading into intermission. The Red Men either tied or lead for the remainder of the contest. The Manitoba connection in Szun and Poitras provided all of Carthage's scoring in the third quarter, propelling them to a 13-11 lead heading into the final 10:00.
All five Carthage goals in the fourth quarter came off DePauw turnovers. Lindner closed the Red Men's scoring with a man-down goal at the 7:16 mark of the fourth to push the margin to 18-13.
That proved to be DePauw's ignition as they outshot Carthage 7-1 from that point forward and ended the contest with a 4-0 run. Time was DePauw's enemy as the Red Men secured an 18-17 win.
Carthage will return to action on Tuesday, March 5 at Rhodes College for a 1:00 p.m. game time.
