SPRINGFIELD, OHIO—The back-end of spring break was upon the Carthage College women's lacrosse team when they squared-off against Wittenberg University in a Sunday-afternoon affair in Springfield, Ohio.
Jessie Gibson picked up where she left off from Thursday when she engineered a Lady Reds 4-1 run with a pair of goals to open the game, but the Tigers responded with an 8-1 run that gave them enough cushion in a 13-10 victory.
Margaux Giacotto engineered Carthage's offense with a team-leading four goals and nine shots, and also paced the team with five ground balls and three draw controls.

Amy Sorge notched 11 saves in the complete-game loss, while her counterpart Joanna Stecz made eight saves for Wittenberg in the victory.
The Tigers outshot Carthage 35-25 in the contest.
The Lady Reds' second-straight loss gives them a 3-4 overall record, and Wittenberg's second-straight win gives them a 3-3 record.

Carthage's first six shots of the contest resulted in a 4-1 lead with 17:29 left in the first quarter, where Gibson tallied a pair of goals for the Lady Reds in the run. Wittenberg used that as ignition as they forced 10 Carthage turnovers on six failed clears, and an 18-5 shots advantage the remainder of the frame, helping them achieve a 6-0 run to close the half en route to a 7-4 lead.
The Lady Reds outshot Wittenberg 14-13 in the second half as both teams battled to a 6-6 score in the frame. Giacotto also netted three goals in the final 30:00, but it didn't result in a Carthage lead as Wittenberg secured a 13-10 victory.
The Tigers were assessed four of the six infractions called in the contest.
Carthage will take a 17-day break from competition before they face St. Mary's College (Ind.) on Wednesday, March 27 in Notre Dame, Indiana at 7:00 p.m. (ET).
