WAUKESHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's basketball team began a two-game road week against Carroll University at the Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Red Men battled back from a 19-point deficit with 14:39 left in the contest to cut it to three points on three occasions within the final 10:00, but couldn't get over the hump in a 60-57 loss.
Kienan Baltimore tied for a game-high 20 points along with five boards and three steals, while
Jordon Kedrowski was the only other Red Men in double figures scoring with 16 points.
Sean Johnson narrowly missed a double-double with 11 boards along with nine points and five blocks.
The Red Men made the most of their possessions as they chipped in 12 second-chance points off eight offensive boards. Carthage finished the contest with a 22-of-57 (.386) shooting mark, which included a respectable 14-of-31 (.456) figure in the second half.
The Red Men fall to 7-15, 2-11 CCIW while Carroll (Wis.) improves to 10-13, 6-8 CCIW.

The Pioneers were able to exploit Carthage with their 12-of-26 (.461) shooting mark in the first half, but Baltimore carried the Red Men over the opening 5:00 as he scored their first nine points to give them a 9-5 lead. Three more lead changes took place, where Carroll grabbed the reigns with 11:58 left in the first when Charlie Soule's jumper gave them a 14-12 lead. The Pioneers grew that advantage into the double-digits with a 31-21 halftime edge.
Carroll's 16-7 run to open the second half gave them their largest lead of the game at 47-28 with 14:39 left. The Red Men responded with a 16-0 run, fueled by eight points apiece from Kedrowksi and Baltimore to cut Carroll's lead to 47-44 with 9:57 left. The Red Men couldn't inch closer as they notched three-point deficits on two more occasions, including Johnson's layup at the buzzer that made the score final at 60-57.
The Red Men will travel to North Park University on Saturday, February 9 for a 7:00 p.m. game.
