BEVERLY HILLS, MICH.—The Carthage College women's lacrosse team kicked-off their 2019 season with a road-bout at Albion College at the Detroit Country Day School Indoor Facility in Beverly Hills, Michigan on Saturday. The Lady Reds opened the game with a 4-0 lead before going into halftime with a 7-4 edge, but couldn't maintain that same momentum in the second half as Albion closed the game with a 6-0 run to secure a 12-11 victory.

Freshman
Margaux Giacotto opened her collegiate career in a big way with a team-leading four goals, nine shots, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and six draw controls. Giacotto also converted 1-of-3 free position shots on the night.
Elena Herman and
Hanna Holloway each netted a pair of goals for the Lady Reds offense.

Carthage notched a 17-15 upperhand in caused turnovers over Albion. Giacotto,

Nicole Bowman and
Jessie Gibson each chipped in three caused turnovers for the Lady Reds defense.

Albion outshot Carthage 35-31 in the contest.

The Lady Reds open the 2019 season with an 0-1, 0-0 CCIW mark while Albion begins with a 1-0, 0-0 MIAA record.

Elena Herman capped a 4-0 Lady Reds run to begin the game on a goal with 27:04 left in the first half. Giacotto netted a pair of goals for Carthage within the 4-0 run. Albion answered with three goals, two of which occurred on the free position, to cut their deficit to 4-3 at the 21:37 mark of the first. The Lady Reds would hold onto that lead through intermission with a 7-4 score.

Carthage grew that lead to 11-6 with 12:38 left in the contest before Albion's 6-0 run to end the game sealed them a 12-11 victory.

Amy Sorge made 11 saves in net for Carthage, while Jenina Villabroza notched 15 saves for Albion.
