Carthage Falls 55-6 at No. 4 Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. — Taking on their second top-10 opponent in the last three weeks, the Carthage College football team was unable to pull out the upset, dropping a 55-6 game at No. 4 Wheaton College Saturday afternoon at McCully Stadium.

The Red Men (4-5, 4-4 CCIW) defense held the Thunder (9-0, 8-0) offense in check to begin the game, forcing a punt on the first drive of the game and holding them to a field goal on their second. After a touchdown at the end of the first quarter, the home team took a 10-0 lead.

A touchdown and a field goal in the second from Wheaton made it a 20-0 game at the halftime break, with the Thunder adding 21 more in the third quarter. Carthage would score a late touchdown in the fourth to set the final score at 55-6.

The Red Men will play in their season finale at home next weekend, hosting Augustana for Senior Day on Saturday, November 16 at 1 p.m.
