NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Seven Carthage College women's volleyball student-athletes earned 2019 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference honors, while head coach
Leanne Ulmer was named CCIW Coach of the Year and
Megan Behrendt the Player of the Year, announced by the league office Monday.
Behrendt is joined on the all-conference teams by Nicole Acton, Haley Horner, Shannon Kebisek, Andrea Kozak, Ellie LeCount, Andrea Kozak and Laura de Rosales.
Behrendt earned first team honors for the third consecutive year after finishing the season with 282 kills, 32 assists, 30 service aces and 36 blocks. Behrendt was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week once while being named to the CCIW All-Tournament team and tournament MVP. Behrendt is the first recipient since 2015 when Karen Chin won the award.
Acton, a sophomore from Geneva, Ill., is on the all-conference first team for the first time as she played in 88 sets on the season and finished second in the conference in hitting percentage. Acton also registered a career-best 169 kills and 62 blocks
Horner was selected to her first CCIW first team after leading the Lady Reds in kills with 304 while registering 75 blocks on the season. The junior from Wheaton, Ill. was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week in September after helping Carthage to a 4-0 record in play on the week. Horner tallied 46 kills off 99 total attempts for a .464 attacking percentage.
Kebisek received first team honors collecting 221 kills, 303 digs, 20 assists and 20 blocks. This is Kebisek's second nod after being named to the second team last season and also collected CCIW All-Tournament honors.
This is LeCount's third CCIW all-conference selection after being named to the first team in 2018 and 2017. The senior finished the season with 1,031 assists and was named CCIW Setter of the Week twice, along with being named to the CCIW All-Tournament Team the past two seasons.
Kozak collects first team honors after recording 162 kills, 21 digs and 88 total blocks. This marks the first all-conference honor for the Mokena, Ill. native.
Rounding out the seven conference honors for the Lady Reds was de Rosales, as she was named to the CCIW second team for the second consecutive season. The senior from Rockford, Ill. finished the year with a career-best 462 digs, 73 assists and 20 service aces and was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Week on October 15.
Head coach Leanne Ulmer was selected the CCIW Coach of the Year for the ninth time in her career at Carthage and first since 2015.
The Lady Reds turn their attention to the NCAA Division III Tournament as they will face Grinnell on Friday, November 15 in the first round of the tournament hosted by the University of Chicago starting at 3 p.m.
