Women’s Volleyball Rolls Past North Park for Sixth Straight Home Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. — The No. 5 Carthage College women's volleyball team collected a 3-0 victory over North Park in the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action Saturday afternoon at Tarble Arena. The victory marked their sixth straight home victory and fourteenth straight overall. 

Carthage (18-1, 4-0 CCIW) went up on North Park (8-11, 0-3 CCIW) 13-7 to start the match. The lady Reds took the first set 25-13. It was a back-and-forth effort to start the second set with Carthage holding a slim 13-9 lead. The Vikings got as close as two before the Lady Reds took the set 25-18. It was another close set to start as Carthage controlled a 13-12 advantage. The Lady Reds ended the match with a 12-6 run to take the straight-set victory. 

Carthage stays at home facing Elmhurst on Wednesday, October 9 at 7 p.m. at Tarble Arena.

"It was a good win against a very scrappy North Park team. Shannon Kebisek and Megan Behrendt were very effective on the outside, they both passed great tonight as well. Nicole Acton was good again tonight Andrea Kozak had some timely kills. Ellie LeCount did a great job mixing up the offense and Autumn McGee and Laura de Rosales had some great hustle plays. Haley Horner is always a big presence."

  • The Lady Reds hit .278 as a team tonight while the Carthage defense held North Park to .075. 
  • Carthage also tallied seven aces in the match. 
  • Megan Behrendt and Shannon Kebisek each registered eight kills, Nicole Acton added seven.
