No. 5 Lady Reds Down North Central in Straight Sets

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 5 Carthage College women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over North Central (Ill.) in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action Wednesday evening at Gregory Arena. 

Carthage (17-1, 3-0 CCIW) went up on North Central (Ill.) (5-13, 0-4 CCIW) 6-3 to start. The Lady Reds went on to win to take the set 25-13. Their momentum continued in the second set taking a 10-3 advantage. The Cardinals rallied late but a final kill from Megan Behrendt gave Carthage the set 25-16. In the final set, the Lady Reds held a 16-10 margin before closing out the set and the match 25-14.  

Carthage continues conference play on Saturday, October 5 taking on North Park at 6 p.m. at Tarble Arena.

"After a week off it was good to get back and compete. It was a solid all-around performance. Andrea Kozak had a good night at the net both hitting and blocking. Haley Horner was a force on offense and blocking. Megan Behrendt had a good night all around. It's back to practice tomorrow to get ready for North Park on Saturday."
