Red Men Eye Kingsmen and Muskies

KENOSHA, WIS.—The #3 Carthage College men's volleyball team (5-0, 0-0 MCVL) will return to Tarble Arena for six-straight matches, which begins with a showdown against #12 California Lutheran University on Friday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a date against Lakeland College on Saturday, February 2 at 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY (4-3)
 
The Kingsmen opened their 2019 campaign with a 2-0 record, which included a 3-1 victory over North Central College (Ill.) on January 12. They have since gone 2-3 and will begin a four-game stretch in the Midwest against the Red Men on February 1.
 
Cal Lutheran ranks fourth in the country with 2.56 blocks per set. Nick Christy, Justin Dietrich, Patrick Rowe and Brendan Ward command the Kingsmen defense as they each average over 0.50 blocks per set. Rowe paces the Cal Lutheran offense with 64 kills and 2.37 kills per set while Andrew Reina is on his tail with 63 kills and 2.33 kills per set.
 
Kevin Judd (30-51) is in his fourth season as Cal Lutheran head men's volleyball coach.
 
ABOUT LAKELAND COLLEGE (3-1)
 
The Muskies's 2019 season consists of victories over Mount St. Joseph University (3-1), Lancaster Bible College (3-0) and Cardinal Stritch University (3-1). Good things come in five's for Lakeland as they're fifth among NCAA Division III men's volleyball programs in assists per set (11.79), digs per set (12.57) and kills per set (12.57) while ranking third nationally with 31.57 attacks per set.
 
Matt Misheck paces the Lakeland offense with 3.36 kills per set while Dakota Hunter trails him with a 3.18 figure over 11 sets. Addision Mertler has been feeding them with 80 assists and 10.00 assists per set. The defensive side of the net belongs to J.T. Levitt, who carries a team-leading 38 digs.
 
Ryan Schopf (41-43) is in his fourth season as Lakeland head men's volleyball coach.
 
WHAT'S NEXT

The Red Men will host a trio of matches next week, beginning with Benedictine University on Friday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. Carthage will host a double-dip against UC Santa Cruz (11:00 a.m.) and North Park University (4:00 p.m.) on Saturday, February 9.
