FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team stayed unbeaten on the young season on Saturday night in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin with a road win over Marian University, 3-0.
The win improves the #3 Red Men to 5-0 on the season, while the Sabres fall to 0-5 and 0-4 against AVCA Top-15 opponents.
Carthage turned in their best offensive performance of the season in the win, hitting a season best .313 with 37 kills to just 11 errors on 83 total attacks. Carthage backed that up with a season best nine blocks against the Sabres.
Braeden Waumans led Carthage with a match-high and personal season best 12 kills followed by
Evan Walsh with eight and
Matt Slivinski with seven.
Matt Reinsel had a strong night as well, as the senior setter dished out 29 of the Red Men's 33 total assists on 37 kills.
Defensively, the reigning MCVL Defensive Player of the Week,
Parker Connolly, shined again with a new career-high six blocks and added five kills.
Evan Walsh rounded out the defense for Carthage with a team-high ten digs, while the Red Men held Marian to .047 attacking with 24 kills and 20 errors.
Carthage will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday with a midweek showdown at Concordia University Wisconsin. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
