AURORA, Ill. – The Carthage College Lady Reds fell in their lone match to open the weekend in Aurora, Illinois, falling to the Spartans of Aurora University, 3-1.
The loss drops the Lady Reds to 8-7 on the season, while the Spartans improve to 6-5 with the win.
After dropping the first two sets, Carthage bounced back to take the third set. However, Aurora hit .311 in the fourth set to claim the win with a .264 attack for the match. The Lady Reds committed 22 attack errors and hit .172 in the four-set loss.
Megan Behrendt once again led the Lady Reds offense with 14 kills but it was
Kaila Johanson who had her best night of her Carthage career, registering 12 kills and a .290 attack with 16 digs. Behrendt and Laura De Rosales led Carthage with 20 digs and
Ellie LeCount rounded out players in double figures with ten digs. LeCount added 36 assists to lead Carthage.
The Lady Reds will return to action in Aurora at 1:00 p.m. with Ripon College followed by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 3:00 p.m.
