Lady Reds Come Back From 2-0 Deficit to Defeat UW-Oshkosh 3-2

KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team's third Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent of the 2018 season was UW-Oshkosh, who invaded Art Keller Field for a Wednesday-evening showdown. The Titans buried two of their first three shots in the game en route to a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute, but it was the Lady Reds who prevailed in crunch time. Joanne Stanfa had a lot to do with that as she registered goals off Jacey Kent corner kicks in the 85th and 88th minute to propel Carthage to a 3-2 victory over UW-Oshkosh. Kent also converted on a penalty-kick goal in the 53rd minute to cut UW-Oshkosh's lead to 2-1 before Stanfa's goals.

The Lady Reds, who tallied a 14-3 edge in shots, held UW-Oshkosh to zero shots in the second half. Anna McHatton peppered a team-high four shots for Carthage while Stanfa followed with three.

Emily Furmanek played the first 45:00 in net for Carthage before she was relieved by Sara Lieffrig prior to the second half. UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan notched five saves in a complete-game effort.

The Lady Reds improve to 4-2-1, 0-0 CCIW while UW-Oshkosh falls to 3-4-1, 0-0 WIAC.
