KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team continued their five-game home stand with a Saturday-matinee against UW-La Crosse. The Lady Reds struck first in the 48
th minute with a 1-0 lead after they battled the Eagles to a 0-0 halftime score. The early lead ignited UW-La Crosse as they tallied two unanswered goals en route to a 2-1 victory over Carthage.
Anna McHatton scored Carthage's lone goal in the contest, while teammate
Sara Lieffrig made six saves in her sixth goalkeeping start of the season. The Eagles registered a 12-7 advantage in shots, and an 8-4 edge in shots on goal over the Lady Reds.
The loss sends Carthage to 3-2-1, 0-0 CCIW while defending WIAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion UW-La Crosse improves to 3-2-1, 0-0 WIAC.

The Eagles held a slight 5-4 edge in shots over Carthage at intermission, where the score stood 0-0. The Lady Reds evened that shot margin in the 48
th minute when
Joanne Stanfa fed a cross pass from the right side of the field over to
Anna McHatton, who buried her first goal of the season in front of the net to give Carthage a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Reds eventually registered a 7-6 advantage in shots in the 53rd minute, but couldn't muster another shot the remainder of the contest as UW-La Crosse notched six unanswered shots. It resulted in a pair of goals from Cassie Handrick in the 64
th and 75
th minutes to propel UW-La Crosse to a 2-1 victory.
Carthage finished the contest with seven shots, highlighted by Stanfa's two.
The Lady Reds will continue their five-game home swing on Wednesday, September 19 against UW-Oshkosh at 5:00 p.m.
