KENOSHA, WIS.—A perfect 7-0 all-time series record was at stake for the Carthage College men's lacrosse team in their home CCIW game against Elmhurst College on Thursday. The Red Men were also in pursuit of their first two-game win streak since their 9-2 victory over Piedmont College on March 6. The Red Men held a 37-31 advantage in shots, but Mac Harden's game-high four goals for Elmhurst powered them to a 9-5 victory.

"A lot of credit to Elmhurst, we needed a better offensive game plan," said Red Men head lacrosse coach
David Neff. "We just didn't have good looks at the net and that's on us as a coaching staff but hopefully we win out the rest of the way and have an opportunity to play these guys in the playoffs."

Colin Poitras commanded the Carthage offense with a pair of goals while
Ben Morgan,
Luke Seydel and
Ethan Flight each registered one. Flight added two assists to that total for a team-high three points.

The Red Men and Bluejays each registered 29 ground balls and 14 turnovers.
Zerik Rodriguez tallied seven saves in net for Carthage while Elmhurst goalie Jacob Delgado notched 12 saves.

Carthage falls to 9-5, 1-2 CCIW while Elmhurst ups their record to 11-2, 3-1 CCIW.

Harden capitalized 0:20 into the contest for Elmhurst to give them a 1-0 edge. The Red Men won the ensuing faceoff and peppered four shots before Seydel capitalized on a goal with 12:02 left in the first quarter to tie the game 1-1.

The Bluejays responded with an 8-4 edge in shots to close the frame en route to a 3-1 lead. Marcus Yandall and Jake Cambron each tallied a goal for Elmhurst throughout the run.

Carthage outscored Elmhurst 3-1 in the second quarter behind Poitras's two goals. One of those scores occurred with 0:02 left on the clock to tie the game 4-4. The Bluejays responded with a 5-1 second half en route to a 9-5 victory.
Ben Morgan was credited with Carthage's lone goal in the second half.

All seven infractions assessed in the contest came at the one-minute variety. Elmhurst was flagged five times for five minutes while Carthage was penalized twice for two minutes.

The Red Men will face University of Dubuque in their 2018 home finale on Saturday, April 21 at 12:00 p.m. Seniors
