BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carthage College women's lacrosse team suffered their second straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin loss on Sunday, falling at Illinois Wesleyan University, 17-2.
The loss drops the Lady Reds to 8-5 on the season and to 1-2 in the CCIW, while the Titans improve to 3-0 in the league and 9-4 overall.
The Titans controlled the game from start to finish, opening with a 12-1 first half lead before slowing the pace of the game down in the second half to the 15-goal differential.
The Lady Reds struggled right out of the gate, losing 18-of-20 draws and being outshot 31-9 in the game, including 28-9 on goal.
Megan McNamara was the leading scorer for the Lady Reds, scoring a goal and adding an assist on Carthage's first goal from
Rachel Mussell. With her 31st assist of the season, McNamara moves to within seven of the single season record, currently held by
Lauren Hein, with 38. Mussell's 35th goal of the season ranks second on the team and her 52 points are first.
The Lady Reds will look to snap their current two-game skid on Tuesday when Carthage hosts Concordia University Chicago at Art Keller Field at 7:00 p.m.
