KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds extended their win streak to three games on Sunday, defeating Indiana's Saint Mary's College at Art Keller Field, 16-8.
The win improves the Lady Reds 2018 record to 7-3 on the season and the Belles fall to 4-3.
Carthage never trailed in the game, as
Nicole Bowman and
Elena Herman put Carthage up 2-0 in the opening minutes. Despite 11 turnovers and trailing in draws controlled 8-5 in the half, the Lady Reds were able to build an 8-5 first half lead as Carthage outshot Saint Mary's 19-14.
In the second half, Carthage dominated the draw circle, winning ten-of-twelve starts and clearing on all seven tries. The Lady Reds also kept the Belles under constant pressure in their own zone, as Carthage had 13 shots on goal to Saint Mary's five over the final 30 minutes.
Jessie Gibson led the Lady Reds with six points on a match-high four goals and two assists, and added four draws won. With her four goals in the win, Gibson now has 37 on the season and is just four away from moving into the top ten for a season by a Lady Reds player.
Megan McNamara also had a strong offensive game with five assists to set a new career-high and mark a high by a Lady Reds' player on the season. McNamara's 25 assists on the season also put her into fourth in a season all-time for the Lady Reds.

Nicole Bowman and
India Soodan each scored hat tricks, while
Elena Herman added two goals and McNamara had one goal.
Maggie Allen made ten saves in her seventh win of the season, and
Heather Martin,
Marissa Pellegrini and Emily Lime led a defense with seven combined caused turnovers.
Carthage will return to action on Saturday, April 11
th at Art Keller Field as they take on the University of Dubuque in their 2018 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at 1:00 p.m.
